As we come to the end of June, we can look back with pride and delight at having achieved an amazing spring season, against all the odds, with performances at The Lowry, Sadler's Wells and Leeds Grand Theatre.
With the end of the season inevitably comes the time to say goodbye to some of our incredible dancers.
Leading Soloist Ayami Miyata is retiring from performing and returning to Japan. Ayami first joined Northern Ballet in 2009 before dancing elsewhere and re-joining in 2014 to dance leading roles in many Northern Ballet productions.
Soloist Matthew Topliss will be staying closer to home and joining our neighbours Phoenix Dance Theatre. Matthew graduated from the Academy of Northern Ballet's Centre for Advanced Training programme and then joined Northern Ballet on completion of his full-time training in 2012.
Mariana Rodrigues, Junior Soloist and choreographer of Little Red Riding Hood and Termagant, is taking up a different kind of role as a Delivery Lead at Tonic, an organisation that supports the arts and cultural sector to achieve greater equality, diversity and inclusion.
Also leaving the Company are Kyungka Kwak, Charlotte McKay, Sara Dos Remedios and Leandro Olcese.
We wish everyone well with all their future endeavours.
Later this summer we look forward to announcing dancers who are joining the Company and any promotions.
